aesculapians elections process

Welcome to the Aesculapians Online Elections Process. The Aesculapians Service Honor Society is a group of medical students who are nominated and elected by their fellow classmates in recognition of their distinguished commitment to service and humanity in the medical school and the community.

Induction into the society is an honor and carries with it the responsibility to represent the school of medicine, one's classmates, and the community. Aesculapians members lead many of the school of medicine's student organizations, participate in regular service activities of their own, organize the annual medical school lampoon show each spring, and this year are writing an orientation guide for incoming first years.

Some examples of service activities Aesculapians has organized and participated in this past year include a yearlong tutoring program at the Latino Family Services center in SW Detroit, a blight busters day in Detroit, a Native American Health Fair, multiple Scott Hall blood pressure screening days, and Telefund. We are also putting together a storytelling project for elementary school kids to promote literacy and foster a love of reading and running a station at the Future Docs day for kids. In addition to organizing Lampoon this year, we are also writing an orientation guide for incoming first years to provide them with information we wish we knew when we started.

We encouraged medical students to nominate those classmates they feel best exemplify a commitment to service and humanity in medicine, and who are dedicated to integrating service into their careers in medicine.

The first year class will elect 7 members, the second year class will elect 12, and the third year class will elect 6.
